Africa StartUp Cup is proud to announce Rackspace® (RAX: NYSE) as a Sponsor for the maiden edition of the
The Africa StartUp Cup is the first regional competition to take place on the continent. It is a proven model to build feasible businesses, nurture employment, and increase entrepreneurial settings. The competitive process will bring winners of 18 Startup Cups in Africa to Ghana to battle for a slot in the World StartUp Cup in Silicon Valley later this year.
According to Mr. Emmanuel Nyame, Regional Director for the Africa StartUp Cup programme, with the support received from Rackspace, entrepreneurs who participate in the Africa Start Up Cup challenge would be able to design a viable business model, develop customers, and accelerate their startup into the marketplace through a comprehensive judging, coaching, and mentoring process.
Mr. Nyame disclosed that an extension of the Rackspace sponsorship would also allow the top 3 winners of the Africa StartUp Cup Challenge an opportunity to build on their U.S.-based cloud system at no cost. This offer would enhance their practical skills, which will propel them from ground levels to the heights in business and challenge the African community to support the diverse entrepreneurial climate.
The three-day event, which will be hosted in Ghana in April, shall consist of a summit on Africa’s economic progress, mentoring as well as a final pitching round for participating startups. The event will educate entrepreneurs on how to design a viable business model, develop customers, and accelerate their start-up into the marketplace through a comprehensive judging, coaching, and mentoring process.
“We are proud to support Africa StartUp Cup challenge in its maiden efforts to arm entrepreneurs with skills necessary to develop viable and successful businesses in Africa,” said Graham Turney, senior manager, marketing at Rackspace.
